James William "Sonny" Fulton, 88, of Eufaula, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee.  The family has chosen cremation arrangements with a memorial service to be held on Wednesday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester, with Randall Miller officiating.

"Sonny" Fulton was born on May 17, 1936 in Parker, Oklahoma to James F. and Willie Mae (Cooper) Fulton.  He grew up in the Parker area and has lived in Pittsburg County all his life.  He went to work at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, and worked his way up the ranks, retiring in 1990 as Major of Security. Sonny was a family man and loved spending time with the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was particularly fond of coon hunting.  He also enjoyed fellowship with his McDonald's Morning Coffer group.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Fulton; his children, James Michael Fulton, Sissy Fitzgerald, and Robert Dale Fulton and wife Rhonda; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Michelle Chapman and husband Josh and their children, McLaren and Grady, Kaitlin Fitzgerald, Molly Hall and husband Lance and their son, Jackson, James Zachary Fulton and his daughters, Bella and Abby, Robert Hunter Fulton, Brenna Fulton, and Gabby Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his 7 siblings.
