James Joseph Peckio, 89, of Ardmore, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Veterans Center in Ardmore. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in McAlester. Pallbearers are Larry Moinette, Neil Johnson, Jr., Eric Duncan, Ethan Denney, Johnny Brewer and Matthew Horner. Honorary pallbearers are Al Linzy, Chris Dvorack and Rick Dickson.
James Joseph Peckio was born on May 10, 1936 in Krebs to Frank and Mary Peckio. He grew up in Krebs, and after high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy on April 27, 1954 and served until he received his honorable discharge on April 28, 1957. James was a jack-of-all-trades, including electrician, refrigeration, mechanic, and carpentry. Some of his hobbies included dancing, fishing, gardening, hunting, going to the casino, and, yes, even sewing.
James was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul Peckio; grandsons, Barry Robinson and Thomas Reece; brothers, Charles and Danny Peckio; and a sister, Dorothy Silva.
James is survived by a sister, Betty Chambers of McAlester; daughters, JoBeth Linzy and Al, Pat Moinette and Larry, Theresa Rehtus, Cindy Hamilton and Leda Furrh, Brenda Duncan and Eric, and Jaime Kelley; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
