Obituary

James Lloyd Heikes, 69, of McAlester, entered eternity Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

A celebration of his life will be held at the King's House on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4-6 pm.

Jim was born on November 9, 1953, to Herman and Donna of Dodge City, Kansas.  He married Elayne Marlow of Hebron, Indiana on May 31, 1975, and shared over 47 years celebrating life and marriage together.  Jim was a Mighty Man of God, devoted husband, amazing father to their six children and an incredible Papa to their 8 grandchildren. He worked for Schreiber Foods and retired after 45 years. He loved retirement because it freed him up to spend quality time with his family and especially his grand-kids. He and Elayne shared a love of travel, often combining visits with family and seeing national/state parks and historical monuments. He was a kind and gentle person with a sense of humor and enjoyed teasing and laughing with those close to him. He loved a good deal and enjoyed going to garage sales and recently to the McAlester Bin Store. Why only own 1 hammer when you can get a good deal on 3!

He was a follower of God and as the years progressed he continued to grow and strengthen his relationship with God. He loved his King's House church family and the friendships he built there. He enjoyed serving at the church and hosting a home group, understanding the importance of fellowship and building relationships within the church and community.

He is survived by his wife Elayne of McAlester, OK, his son Matthew Heikes and wife Josett, grandsons Logan, Luces and Joshua of Webb City, MO, his daughter Rachel Heikes of Tulsa, OK, his daughter Charissa Boatright and husband Cory, granddaughters Addy and Mackenzie of Webb City, MO, his daughter Hannah Jennings and husband Blake, granddaughters Ava and Alaia of McAlester, OK, his son Gabriel Heikes and wife Cammi, grandson Elliot of Berkley, MI, his daughter Elizabeth Heikes of Webb City, MO.
