In Loving Memory of Jacqueline "Hanna" Claxton

Hanna, the cherished Queen matriarch of our family, left this world peacefully and entered into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on November 28, 2024, at the age of 90. Jacqueline Mae Claxton was born on September 6, 1934, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to her parents, Jack & Hester Parris. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation Tribe, deeply cherishing her heritage and the traditions passed down through her family. Her connection to her culture was a source of strength and pride throughout her life.

She graduated from McAlester High School and then moved on to East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She proudly served as a nurse in the United States Navy, dedicating herself to her country during the Korean War. Her service exemplified honor, courage, and commitment. Following her distinguished military service, she continued her career as an Inspector at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, where she worked until her retirement.

Hanna was a beacon of love, strength, laughter, and wisdom who touched the lives of everyone she met. As the heart of her family, she built a legacy rooted in compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. She dedicated her life to creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories. Her strength guided us through challenges, and her love united us in joy and laughter.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill Hutchison of the home, Jerri Bartheld & Michael Camp of McAlester, Oklahoma. Sister, Betty Testa of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and two nephews; Ron & Dawn Testa, Marty & Christine Testa. Grandchildren; Heather Eddy and her spouse Jared. Jacqueline Shumway and her spouse Matt. Great grandchildren; Addison Mae & Cade French, Makadyn, Brodie & Landon Eddy, Camryn Paige Weber, Bentley & Suttyn Reynolds, Garrett & Jayden Shumway, Stephen "Kaine", Daxton, Diem & Declan Bartheld, Brooklyn Myers, Maddox Sims and his mother Kelli Sims, and Aiden Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Wilkerson Parris & Hester Vivian Pratt-Parris, son Jack Stephen Claxton, grandson; Stephen "Mac" Bartheld.

Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, generosity, and faith. She found joy in estate sales, collecting all things, cooking, crossword puzzles, wine, chocolate, laughter, quality time with her family, and she left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at McAlester Country Club, beginning at 5 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring her memory and the remarkable life she led.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Vine, formerly Baptist Children's Home, OKC, a Family-Focused Care center that was developed to help single mothers, who may have limited or no support/resources in her memory.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that her love and lessons will remain with us forever. She was, and always will be, the soul of our family. Rest in peace, our beloved Queen matriarch.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at the McAlester Country Club.
