Harold Vaughn Pool, 86, of McAlester, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026 at his home, with his family at his side.  Viewing will take place on Wednesday, August 5th, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.  Funeral services are set for Thursday, August 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Andrews officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.  Pallbearers are Tony Perkins, Hunter Mason, Brian Mason, Tim Mitchell, Jack Cates and Tim Gilbert.

Harold Pool was born on March 15, 1940 near Haywood, to William Lafayette "Fay" Pool and Lola Gladys (Scott) Pool.  He grew up here and has lived all his life in Pittsburg County, except for a short time in Houston.  He and Gail Pursley were married on Oct. 29. 1966, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this October.  Harold had worked for the Arkla Gas Company, and in the oil fields, and with an electrical construction company installing electrical towers around Tulsa, then in Houston.  Then he worked as a security guard at the Army Ammunition Plant for several years.  Harold loved the outdoors, and loved working with his cattle.  He also enjoyed riding horses, deer hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR and old western movies.

Harold is survived by his wife, Gail Pool; a son, Chris Pool; nephews, Tim Gilbert, Jack Cates and wife Trudi, Jim Cates, and Jeff Cates and wife Rhoda; and nieces, Denae Wilson and husband Dathan, and Ashley Hamby and husband Peter.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Lynn Pool; a sister, Helen Cates and brother-in-law, A. C. Cates; a nephew, Keith Adams; and in-laws, Woody and Faye Pursley, Kay Spencer, and Lloyd Spencer.
