Glen Dale Nave, 81, of McAlester, passed away Tuesday, March 7, at McAlester Regional Health Center.  Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, March 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Brent McAlester officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dale's grandsons and nephews.  Honorary pallbearers are all active and retired law enforcement personnel.

Dale Nave was born on June 19, 1941 in Tannehill to Cecil and Irene (Cathey) Nave.  After high school, Dale quickly joined the U. S. Air Force and served for 4 years, receiving his honorable discharge in 1963.  He was married to Shirley Ann Munholland for over 60 years until her death in 2022.  They had been friends since the third grade.  Dale opened the Buffalo Drive-In in the early 1960's and after working at the Krebs Police Department for a short time, he joined the McAlester Police Department in 1964.  He worked his way up the ranks and was named Chief of Police in 1982, and served in that role until his retirement in 2004.  He and Shirley loved to travel and they would just get in the car a go wherever their hearts led them.  After Shirley's death, Dale continued to travel with his kids and grandkids.  Dale also enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to work in his garden.

Dale is survived by his children, Sheila Creel, Jeffery Nave, and Steven Nave; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Cecil Nave, Normadean Lewis, Jimmy Nave, Fern Echelle, Clyde Nave, Gladys Ethridge, Joyce Webb, and Evelyn Ridley; in-laws, Charlie and Linda Munholland; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; a grandson, Daniel Glenn Leibfried; a brother, Eldon Nave; and 3 sisters, Aline Talbot, Imogene Nave, and Georgia Durant.
