George Halliburton, 95, lifelong resident of McAlester, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home.

George was born on December 22, 1928 in Weathers, Oklahoma to Rofa and Jewell (Kindred) Halliburton.  He was a cowboy and retired horseman.  He was a Steward of race horses where he raised, trained and raced them.  He married Eoline Morrison in December of 1991 in McAlester.  He was a PaPa, and enjoyed bartering, family, horses, cows, goats, chickens and friends.  He was a member of the AQHA, Pittsburg County Cattlemen's Association, TBRA, RCA, Roundup Club and the APHA.

Survivors include his wife, Eoline (Morrison) Halliburton; children, George "Buster" Halliburton of Owasso, OK, Richard "Rick" McMurtrey of Atlanta, GA, RaShonda Hutchings and husband Donnie of Haywood, OK, and Leslie Jordan of McAlester, OK; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Howard "Jr." Johnson and wife Nina; sister-in-law, Catherine Halliburton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rofa Halliburton, and Howard and Jewell Johnson; child, Phil McMurtrey; brother, Ernest Halliburton; sisters, Betty Jo Halliburton and Chris Halliburton; grandparents, James Franklin and Mary Kindred, Benjamin "Bose" Franklin, Emma Halliburton and a son-in-law, Beau Jordan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Halliburton, Kevin Hutchings, Ryan Halliburton, Jeffrey "Fred" Hutchings, Major Rogers, Teagin Rogers and Gabriel Hutchings.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Chapel in McAlester.  A private family burial will be held at a later time.
