Gaile Shannon, 84, of Kiowa, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Pittsburg Cemetery with Glenn Enloe officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jacob Shannon, Aaron Shannon, Brad Shannon, Shane Mote, Tim Schwarz, and Joe Schwarz. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Shannon, Brett Shannon, Andrew Dunagan, and John Patrick Shannon.

Gaile was born on July 25, 1942 in Pittsburg, Oklahoma to John Lafayette and Lois (Byrd) Shannon. He married Mary Mote on June 23, 1964 in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. He worked as a welder at Meeco in McAlester for 20 years before retiring. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, harmonica and guitar. He also enjoyed welding and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Shannon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Barbie Shannon, T.J. and Pat Shannon; grandchildren, Candace Dunagan and husband, Andrew, Jacob Shannon and wife, Ryan, Aaron Shannon, and Brett Shannon; great-grandchildren, Emersyn Shannon, Creek Shannon, Ryker Dunagan and Noah Dunagan; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Linda Shannon; sisters-in-law, Barbara Shannon, Annie Schwarz, Susanne Mote, Janie Caldwell and husband, Wayne; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale, Roy, and Louis; sisters, Nettie, Willie Jo, and Tommye; brothers-in-law, William Mote, George Mote, and Charles Schwarz; sister-in-law, Donna Mote; niece, Sarah Caldwell; and nephew, Ashley Caldwell.
