Obituary

Franklin Delano "Dee" Ball, 86, of McAlester, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the North Town Church of Christ with Kelley Benson officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester.

He was born on January 12, 1934 in Cowlington, Oklahoma to Olen and Owetah (Edwards) Ball.  He grew up in McAlester and entered the United States Navy upon graduation. Frank served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.  He retired after 20 years of active service as Senior Chief in Aviation. Frank married Molly V. Glover on February 4, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After his retirement from the Navy, they returned to McAlester in 1974 and went into business with the rest of the Ball family at Ball's Meat Market and Bar-B-Q Restaurant. He was an independent salesman for Marking Products for over 30 years. Frank enjoyed working with cattle and was an avid golfer. His other interests included carpentry and computers. He enjoyed traveling to his former military bases and reuniting with his fellow servicemen. He loved history and enjoyed discussing its lessons with others. Frank was a devoted husband who adored his wife and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member and elder of the North Town Church of Christ. Frank was dedicated to serving the Lord and was very involved in the work of furthering Christ's Church.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Rod Caldwell of Troup, TX, Debbie and Randy Walters of McAlester, OK; five grandchildren, Nicole and Chris Chestnut of North Richland Hills, TX, Meaghan and Zach Vaughn of Troup, TX, Ryan and Katie Walters of Oklahoma City, OK, Jared and Alyssa Walters of Austin, AR and Rachel Walters of Searcy, AR; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew Carter Vaughn, Sarah Payton Chestnut, Molly Elizabeth Vaughn and Nicolas Christopher Chestnut, Violet Kathryn Walters, Luke Skylar Walters, Ella Molly Walters, Benjamin Winston Franklin Walters, Lynley Meshelle Walters; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Kay Ball of McAlester, OK and Johnny and Bobbie Ball of McAlester, OK; two sisters-in-law, Joan Glover of Ada, OK and Kathyrn Maxwell of McAlester, OK and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Walters, Jared Walters, Matthew Vaughn, Jeff Ball, Jason Ball, David Edwards, Gary Edwards and Greg Steidley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Cable, Bill Coop, Butch Good, Jim Kelley, Jerry Vest, Oben Weeks, and Dean Wood.
