Obituary

Frances Ann Mattias, 80 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, in McAlester, OK.

Fran was born January 31, 1945, in McAlester, Oklahoma to Lucille Wilson. Her and her beloved brother, Jerry Wilson, soon moved to Bellflower, California to live with her aunt and uncle, Carl and Etta Paige. In 1985, she graduated nursing school at Eastern Oklahoma State College and went on to work as a registered nurse. Her true passion and work as an RN was in mental health, where she retired from Griffin Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she spent her days caring for her grandchildren. Fran lived her life to the fullest; shopping, traveling, and hitting every garage sale that she passed. She also loved passing time with crossword puzzles, ironing, true crime documentaries and laundry. She was an avid OU football fan, and never missed a game.

She is survived by her children, Joann Haile & husband Robert Haile of McAlester, OK, Jennifer Mattias of McAlester, OK and Julie Mattias of Shawnee, OK.
