Floyd P. Anderson, Jr., 90, of McAlester, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are set for Wednesday, October 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Floyd Paul Anderson, Jr. was born on May 10, 1934 in San Antonio, TX to Floyd Paul Anderson, Sr. and Ruby Ellen (Lewis) Anderson. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S.
Air Force and served for 4 years, 2 years in Korea during the Korean War, receiving his honorable discharge on January 29, 1956. He then went to work for Santa Fe Railroad as a freight conductor. He eventually retired after over 40 years of service. He married Sandra Payton on October 26, 1987. He has lived in McAlester for the past several years. In his spare-time, Floyd enjoyed wood working, bowling, and gardening. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home; his children, Charles Anderson and wife Linda, Michael Anderson, Robert Anderson and wife Shelley, Floyd Anderson, III and wife Theresa, and Jessie Collum; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank Anderson and Chris; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Flora and Glen, and Bea and Tom.
