Edward John Henne came into this world on February 4th 1958 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Edward H. Henne and Jean Shirley Woolman Henne.  Ed was fortunate to live his first five years with his Godparents, Ernie and Sara Brown of Staatsburg, New York. His mother later married George Hess, who became his stepfather and they moved from New York to Folly Beach, SC. Of note, Ed was proud of his relative, John Woolman an American merchant, tailor, journalist, Quaker preacher, and early abolitionist during the colonial era. John would only agree to write a will for a person if they agreed to give their slaves freedom upon the death of the person desiring the will.

Ed passed from this life the 13th of July.

Ed met the love of his life, Pamela Renna Earp and after first becoming friends they were married on May 29th, 1981 at First Christian Church in Norman, Oklahoma by Rev Les Brown. Ed and Pamela lived over the years in South Carolina and Oklahoma.

Ed began his work life working on a shrimp boat, oil field welder, a carpenter, cabinet maker and worked for many years as an Alcohol and Drug/Family counselor. He retired in 2020.

Ed was diagnosed with cancer in May 2021 which he fought the battle   and continued to receive treatment after being told he was cancer free. The side effects were ongoing and difficult.

Ed enjoyed learning and teaching Kung Fu, which he began in 1979. He earned and was promoted to the rank of 5th Si Hing (Older Brother) in 1996 for Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu. He went on to be ranked 3rd Degree Black Belt for White Tiger Hsing-I in Blacksburg, VA in Sep 2000. Ed studied extensively the lineage and history of each discipline. He developed lifelong friendships with many of his Kung Fu teachers, Mike Biggie and Gary Myers.

Ed earned his Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling and Divinity from the American Christian College and Seminary in May 2005. He received his Masters of Science degree in Counseling, Professional Counselor January 19, 2014 at Mid America Christian University in OKC. He graduated Summa Cum Lauda.

Ed was ordained by the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in June 2006 in Oklahoma City. Ed and Pamela were active for many years in numerous Vineyard churches in Oklahoma and Columbia, SC, along with The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Charleston, SC. They also served at Victory Church of Norman as family counselors.

Ed and Pamela moved to Hartshorne in 2014 to assist her parents in their later years. His father-in-law, Elix Earp and other neighbors began teaching him gardening. He truly had a green thumb and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with one and all. Families and friends are already missing his cooking. He loved to cook for people and maintained a messy kitchen according to his wife. His mother-in-law, Mary, loved Ed's Twice Baked Potatoes and requested them often. Ed entered his famous venison chili in a Chili Cook-Off for the Haileyville FCCLA in Nov 2019 and won. The judges did not want to stop eating it. Needless to say; he went home without any chili.

Ed is predeceased by his grandparents: Mary Gibson Woolman, John and Belle Woolman; Father, Edward Henne; Stepfather, George Hess; Mother Shirley Woolman Watson; sisters: Jean Marie Owens and Mary Ellen Frechette; stepbrothers: Roger and David Hess. Godparents; Ernie and Sarah Brown; Father/Mother-in-law; Elix and Mary Earp; brother-in-law and close friend, Eddy Earp. He is survived by wife, Pamela; uncle and aunt; David and Brenda Woolman; sisters-in-law; Janie Wilk (Barry Rose) and Darla Earp (Ford Wattles); brother-in-law, Jonathan Earp, and nephews; Jimm Patton and Blake Earp; niece; Whitney Baca (Juan Baca), along with many great nieces and nephews.

Pastor Danny Steyne, previously the pastor of the Columbia Vineyard and is currently the pastor of MOW (Mountain of Worship) international fellowship based in Keene, New Hampshire. After learning of Ed's passing, he wrote "Ahhh my friend! You graduated much sooner than I thought you would. I will miss the times we reminisced and hoped to be together again. I never met anyone who could visit a zoo in the morning and show up with seven or eight people from that venture to the zoo that night to our gatherings! You loved Jesus and always wanted more! Grateful that the Lord brought you and Pamela into my journey! Hope we are situated close to each other in glory! Love you Pam. Praying His peace and comfort all over you!" Pamela responded to Danny: "Edward Henne thought we were gathering God's animals like us. Love you!"

A few days before Ed's passing, he told Pamela this is the song I want sung at my funeral: Lead Me Home, sung by Jamey Johnson (songwriters, Randy Houser and Craig Monday):

A come and go get-together at the home in Hartshorne with family and friends will be announced soon. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crestwood Vineyard at 2515 NW 16th (off Villa Avenue), Oklahoma City. Future date and time to be determined.
