Debbie Gail Compton, 68, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, May 15, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 20, at 6:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Brasher, Craig Compton, Gavin Compton, Nathan Greenfield, Don Hutchings, Larry Nimrod, Brent Owens, Ryan Owens, Brian Wiley, Eric Compton, John Constantikes, Tommy Craig, Todd Dalton, Charley Gilbertson, Carl Hayes, Kerry Kirkhart, Richard Wheatley, Jimmy Williams, Jerry Wilkinson, Darren Wolf, and Jeff Wolf.
Debbie Compton was born on March 3, 1953 in McAlester, the daughter of Delbert Owens and Margie (Sykes) Owens. She grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School in 1971. She and Ronnie Compton were married on December 14, 1979. Debbie had worked at Elsings as a secretary then Komars, working as a seamstress. She was active with Meals on Wheels for several years, delivering numerous meals to those with a need. She was currently working at the McAlester Nutritional Center, where she loved to brighten everyone's day with her beautiful chalk drawings on the chalk board. She was also had a beautiful singing voice and loved singing gospel songs. She and Ronnie were active, devoted members of the Family Worship Center between McAlester and Krebs.
Debbie is survived by her husband, Ronnie Compton; 2 daughters and one son-in-law, Amanda Compton Greenfield and Nathan, and Stefani Compton; grandchildren, Gavin Compton, Taylor Compton, Katie Greenfield, Madison Greenfield, Hannah Hyden, and Hayden Johnston; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Ann Owens; brothers-in-law, Mike Compton and his wife Tina, and Wayne Wiley; other sisters-in-law, Betty Compton and Nancy Owens; an uncle, Kenneth Sykes; and aunts, Helen Holt, Betty Krueger, Anita Motley and Janie Williamson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Terry Owens; a sister, Deanna Wiley; her parents-in-law, Howard and Mary Compton; a brother-in-law, Glenn Compton; grandparents, Lee and Mary Sykes and John and Sleetia Owens.
