Deanna Lynn Campbell

Deanna Lynn (Head) Campbell, 78, of Hartshorne, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026 at home in Hartshorne. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. A memorial celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Episcopal Church.

Deanna Lynn Campbell was born on January 8, 1948 in Nashville, Kansas to Edward Delbert “Bill” Head and Juanita Irene (Fisher) Head. She spent her early childhood days traveling with her parents and brother through the oil fields of Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and eventually settled in Odessa, Texas.

After graduating from Odessa High School, she went to Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Mo. She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and then to the Haileyville-Hartshorne area and went to work as an executive secretary for McAlester Urban Renewal for a number of years. She graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton with a R.N. Degree, and continued her education at East Central University in Ada, graduating with a Masters Degree in Behavioral Psychology. She was a certified Psychiatric Nurse, as well as a certified Behavioral Practitioner.

Deanna worked for a short time at McAlester Regional Hospital and at several nursing homes, but her heart was in psychology. She retired after 25 years from Carl Albert Mental Health Clinic, where she was the inpatient hospital manager, as well as the inpatient director of nurses, and the crisis manager. After her retirement she went to McCurtain County Memorial Hospital in Idabel, where she was the director of the Gero-psych unit. Her final job in Idabel was to “problem solve” in each department, and was mandated to “change the culture of the hospital.” Deanna also worked part-time at Professional Counselling in McAlester for many years.

Deanna enjoyed playing golf with her best friend, Pat, playing bridge with the McAlester Bridge Club, camping, gardening, and playing her saxophone. She was active in the All Saints Episcopal Church, and owes them a debt of gratitude for their support during the past few years.

She now goes to join her father, Bill, her mother, Juanita, sister, Sandra Kay, and brother, Bill Duane, in heaven. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Louise; her niece, Jodi Lopez and husband Jesse; and her nephew, Stephen Head and wife Kimberly. She is also survived by her “partner in crime”, Pat Brennan and Pat’s sons, Greg and Tommy. She also leaves behind her long-time friend, Phyllis Dodd.

It has been requested, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the All Saints Episcopal Church Food Pantry would be appropriate.
