Dawn Luanne Moore of McAlester died March 20, 2024 in Richardson, Texas. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester, Oklahoma at 2:00 p.m.

Born December 8, 1932 in Ft. Smith, AR, she was the daughter of William R. (Bill) and Lucille Livingston. She moved to McAlester at an early age where she spent many years of her life. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1950 and was employed in the Bookkeeping Department of Longbell Lumber Company un l her marriage to Tom Wesley Moore on July 9, 1954. They made their home in southern California in the city of Santa Ana. They later lived in Orange, California where she was a homemaker until their move to McAlester in 1969.

Her professional career after moving to McAlester included two years with the State Department of Rehabilitative Services. Her federal government career included two years at the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot, two years with the Social Security Administration, three years with the Bureau of Hearings and Appeals, and thirty-five years with the U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Health and Safety Administration from which she retired on December 3, 2009. During her years with the Mine Health and Safety Administration, she also served in part-time positions with the First National Bank of McAlester.

She and her family were long-time members of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the music ministry in the Sanctuary Choir, various ensembles, soloist, and children's choir volunteer leader. She taught Sunday School in several age groups, served as director in both youth and college and career Sunday School departments, and associate director in the adult Sunday School area. She also served on numerous church committees and task forces through the years.

She loved being with her family and children and took great joy in her one and only grandchild, Zoe Maree Moore. She loved her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and in spending as much me with them as she could. After retirement she was a volunteer in her church's nursing home ministry and involved in various other ministries. Dawn loved all aspects of her church and her church family. She loved her city and was a supporter of the McAlester Arts and Humanities Council and active attender of the McAlester Community Concert Series concerts. She was a charter member of the McAlester Singers, a past member of the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma, and a member of the McAlester Arts and Humanities Choir.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Wes and Melanie Moore, Garland, TX, and Kelly Moore and Kevin Salter, Oklahoma City, one granddaughter, Zoe Maree Moore, Garland, TX, niece, Rhonda and Mark Ground, Paris, TX, nephew, Dr. Vernon Moore, Kennebunkport, Maine, David Perkins, Lugosa, South Carolina, Sandra and Eli Goshen, Amy and Mike Jones, Carol and Ed Clark, Beth and Wade Powell, Jade and Doreen Oldham, and Toni Helmert of McAlester, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Moore, parents, Mother and Father-in-Law, Lois and Vernon Moore, son, Larry Moore, sister, Billie Jean Moore, Brothers-in-law, Charles Moore, George Moore, Bill Moore, sisters-in-law, Mary Smith and Ed Smith, Lynda and Frank Mason, nephews, Bob and Eddie Moore, and Al Smith.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church Television Ministry, Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions, or a charity of choice.
