David Wayne Umsted, 87, of Hartshorne, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at McAlester Regional Health Center.

David was born on October 5, 1935 in Farris, Oklahoma to Earl and Thelma (Taylor) Umsted. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a plumber and pipefitter.

Survivors include his daughter, Dana Smith and husband, Perry of Smithville, OK; grandchildren, Taylor Smith Sebo and husband Caleb of Spiro, OK, Kade Smith of Smithville, OK; great-grandchildren, Payson Sebo and Rocker Sebo of Spiro, OK; brothers, Gus Umsted and wife, Janie of Durant, OK, Jess Umsted and wife, Kelly of Durant, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Earl Umsted and Thelma Taylor; stepmother, Martha Umsted; brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert and Bessie Umsted, Charles Umsted and Ronald "Indian" Umsted; sisters, Evelyn McLaney and Betty Lou Cope; and a nephew, Charlie Umsted.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.  No formal services are scheduled.
