David Ray Mitchell, 80, of McAlester, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, at McAlester Regional Health Center.  Viewing will be Monday until 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jody Domingue officiating.  Burial will follow at Chambers Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Richard Bedford, Garyn Watkins, Gaige Watkins, Garrison Watkins, Dewayne David Hoffman, Jerrel Hoffman.  Honorary pallbearers are all the Falcons and Lady Falcons, past and present.  The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Frink-Chambers School Athletic Fund.

David Mitchell was born on Jan. 21, 1942 in McAlester to Joel David Mitchell and Oleta (Barnett) Mitchell.  He has lived in this area all his life.  He attended Frink-Chambers School through the 8 ^th grade then went to Savanna School, where he graduated.  David worked at Lockheed, then as a security guard at the Army Ammunition Base.  He later worked as an administrator for United Home Health before going to work for the Cherokee Nation.  He also had a nursing home administrators license and helped some at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home.  David enjoyed going to flea markets and going antiquing.  He might also be known as Frink-Chambers Schools Athletics number 1 fan; he never missed a game or a track meet, maybe attending 2, 3, or 4 events in a single day.  David was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Kris Mitchell; a granddaughter, Rhyan Johnston; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Wayne and Niva Mitchell; a niece, Jamie Mitchell; a great niece, Brooklyn Mitchell; and a cousin, Louise Hoffman and Dewayne, and their children, Dewayne David and wife Lisa and Jerrell and wife Mandy.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Joe Dyer Mitchell.
