David Lee Deputy, 72, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 in Wilburton.  Viewing will be Wednesday, June 14, until 8:00 p.m.  Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, with Chaplain Jeff Little officiating.  Pallbearers are Gary Mooney, Johnny Jordan, Devin Kelly, James Gooding, Joe Teal, Larry Hyslop.

David Lee Deputy was born on April 7, 1951 in Anadarko, Okla. to John Deputy and Lorine (Dorsey) Deputy.  His family came to McAlester when he was 5 years old and he grew up here and has lived here all his life.  David married Helen Ann Beasley on Jan. 28, 1972, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2018.  David worked at Statewide Communications as a Communication Specialist and delivered newspapers for the McAlester News Capital and the Tulsa World. He most recently worked for Wendy's until he retired.

David is survived by 2 daughters, Elveda Deputy and Carrie Deputy; a sister, Pat Butler and husband Neil; 6 grandkids, Gabrielle Teal and husband Joe, Montana Kelly and husband Devin, Eddie McAusland, Faith Burleson, Mary Burleson, Makayla Owens and husband Zack;

9 great grandkids, Drake, Eve, Karsen, Sofia, Auron, Mia, Gabriel, Zachariah and Xavier.   He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Deputy; a son, Gabriel Deputy; and his parents.
