Darlene Louise "Becki" Nail, 81, of McAlester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Hall in Hartshorne. A graveside will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery Pavilion in Hartshorne.

Becki was born on September 27, 1943, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, the youngest of six children to Charles and Hazel (Melugin) Sitter. Growing up in a lively and close-knit household, Becki was immersed in an environment of love, humor, and strong family values. She attended Catholic school and later graduated from Hartshorne High School where she was a majorette and played the saxophone in the band.  During high school she met the love of her life, Anthony Nail. The two were married on June 25, 1961, in Hartshorne, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span over 63 years. Together, they raised three children: Traci, Brian, and Leah.

Becki and Anthony made their home in Bache, Oklahoma, where they spent more than five decades. She loved their home and being surrounded by nature. She eagerly planned and raised a garden each year with Anthony, finding joy in sharing vegetables with her family and friends. Becki was also involved in the Girl Scouts where she was a troop leader for her daughter's troops, was actively involved in her son's cub scouts, children's music lessons and band activities.

Becki's worked as a librarian in Hartshorne and worked with the original book mobile for this area, where her passion for books created a lifelong love of reading and learning. Later, she became an insurance specialist with the Tippit Agency, where she made many good friends and was employed until her retirement. She also enjoyed researching her family history, finding time to uncover interesting stories and connections, and learning and sharing that history with her family.

Family was at the heart of Becki's life. She treasured the large holiday gatherings with her siblings and their families, moments that were filled with laughter, spirited conversations, and lots of coffee. These gatherings created cherished memories that her loved ones will hold close forever. Becki's grandchildren knew her as their beloved "Grams" or "Gramsy," a grandmother who filled their lives with love, crafts, and fun.  She sewed super hero caps, many Halloween and school play costumes. Throughout her life, games like Wahoo, Password, Scrabble, and Rummy were played for hours with family and friends. Even during her illness, she found joy and comfort in playing games online, staying connected to friends and family. Becki taught Anthony to cook during the beginning of her illness and they enjoyed looking for new recipes and judging which ones would be the "keepers".

Becki and Anthony shared many happy moments exploring flea markets and yard sales, searching for hidden treasures. They also loved taking drives together, simply enjoying each other's company.

Her family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Hospice, Lincare and Caresource for the oxygen supply and equipment support, to the many McAlester Regional Home Health care team members with a special hug for Nurse Paula Kerns and to her grandson, Levi Nail, for the compassionate care and support they provided during her illness. Their kindness brought comfort to Becki and her family during a difficult time.

She has requested a gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life.  This celebration is being planned and will be announced at a later time via her Facebook page.  A graveside burial will follow the celebration.

Becki is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Richard Nail of McAlester, OK; her daughters and their spouses, Traci McMurtrey and husband Frankie of Bache, OK, and Leah Lafitte and husband Glenn of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren, Marc Anthony McMurtrey and wife Leslie of McAlester, OK, Travis Ray McMurtrey of Tulsa, OK, Nash McMurtrey and wife Jessica of Houston, TX, Joshua Levi Nail of McAlester, OK, Griffin Lafitte and wife Morgan of Broken Arrow, OK, Bailey Lafitte Chronister and husband Cale of Los Angeles, CA, and Taylor Lafitte of Atlanta, GA; and her great-grandchildren, Allison Nail, Brighton McMurtrey, Llewyn McMurtrey, and Miriam McMurtrey of McAlester, OK, Callahan McMurtrey and Carson McMurtrey of Houston, TX, and Maverick Lafitte and Marlie Lafitte of Broken Arrow, OK. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dale Sitter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Becki was preceded in death by her son, Brian Anthony Nail; her parents, Charles and Hazel Sitter; her brothers, John Ed Sitter, Tommy Sitter, and Chuck Sitter; her sisters, Sue Wagoner and Marianne Keeth; and her grandparents, Joe and Anna Sitter, and Beacher and Ida Melugin.
