Obituary

"Cindy, you're going to die soon..."   "I know.  Jesus got my hand."    And He did to the very end.

Cynthia Ann Roberts was born on Sept. 15, 1959, in Oklahoma City and went to heaven on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in McAlester after battling lung cancer, COPD and congestive heart failure.

Family and friends will honor Cin and celebrate her life at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at First Baptist Church of McAlester. Burial will follow at Arpelar Cemetery where she will rest with her parents and brother. Lunch, including her favorite drink, Dr Pepper, will be back at the church. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester.

She could be ornery and bossy, but had a kind heart and shared what she had with anyone who needed it. Cindy had a firm faith and served as an usher at Reedy Chapel-AME Church when she lived in Galveston, Texas. She made many friends while living there for 13 years.

Cindy is survived by her son, Bobby Odell Vaughn, of Sallisaw; loving cat Troubles; sister Leilani Roberts Ott and Curtis of Eufaula; and brother Frank Roberts and Tina of Hempsted, Texas; nephews Josh Roberts of Hobbs, N.M., Clinton Ott and Tiffany of McAlester, Charlie Welch and Laurie of LaMarque, Texas; nieces Leigha James and Kyle of Mountain Home, Idaho, Jamie Marion and Richard of Hobbs, N.M., Jodie Roberts of Hobbs, N.M.; and great-nieces and nephews Amaya, Braylon, Harmony, Alaina, Gavin, Tia, Leilah, Emery, Faith, Addie, Leon, Jordan, Journey and soon to arrive baby girl.

Preceding her in death are parents Bob and Bernice Roberts, brother Robert Alan Roberts, grandparents Nathan and Callie Roberts, and Ott and Lena Conley.

Pallbearers are Bobby Vaughn, Frank Roberts, Curtis Ott, Clinton Ott, Mike Hickerson and Wendell Melton. Honorary pallbearers are James Conley and Mike Rodriguez.

The family would like to thank New Hope Care Center of McAlester and McAlester Regional Medical Center ICU for their compassion and care.
