Correna Jane Johnson, 84, of McAlester, died Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Arpelar Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Jerry Anderson and Chris Harris officiating.

Correna was born on March 20, 1938 in Wheeler, Arkansas to Monte and Bessie (Middleton) Akin. From age two, she has lived in or around Pittsburg County. She married Bob Johnson on April 3,1954 in Eufaula, Oklahoma. She was a loving wife and mother and loved volunteering and helping others.  She attended the North McAlester Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Hess; grandson, Brian Holloway, whom she loved and raised as her son and a special niece, BJ Pfau.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Monte and Bessie Akin; her husband, Bob Johnson; her sister, Elsie Mae Howell and brother, Elgie Ray Akin.
