Obituary

Clifford Caldwell, 97, of Meeker, formerly of McAlester, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Meeker, Oklahoma.  Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in McAlester, with Danny Huntsman officiating.

Clifford Caldwell was born on October 23, 1926 in Carbon, Oklahoma, near Bache, to Virgil and May (Kittrell) Caldwell. He married Fairel Ivey on May 10, 1947 in McAlester.  Clifford attended school in Haileyville.  He was a long-time resident of Pittsburg County, moving to Warrick, Oklahoma in 2009.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, from March 1945 to November 1946.  He received his honorable discharge with the Rank of Sergeant.  Clifford retired from the Navy Ammunition Depot, now the Army Ammunition Plant, as a Payroll Clerk. He moved from Bache to Kiowa in 1960 and lived there until moving to Warrick in 2009.  He enjoyed his cattle, gardening, hunting and fishing, metal detecting, and woodworking.

Clifford is survived by his children, Ronald and Linda Caldwell, and Anita and John Johnston; six grandchildren, Rhonda Goddard and Neil, Kimberly Hall and Matt, Chad Caldwell and Marietta, Chris Caldwell, Brian Caldwell and Melissa, and Wesley Jackson; eleven great grandchildren, Garrett, Grace and Hudson Goddard, Maxwell (Max) and Ellison (Ellie) Hall, Liv and Crew Caldwell, Garret, Austin, Kaden and Weston Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and May Caldwell, a son, Clifford Neil Caldwell, 2 brothers, Alvie and Frank Caldwell; and 2 sisters, Ruth Parharm and Ruby Pink.
