Chris Alan Nix, 38, of Colorado City, Tx., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29, in Colorado City.  A memorial service for Chris will be held on Tuesday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester.

Chris Alan Nix was born on Feb. 24, 1984 in McAlester to Carl Alan Tedrick and Jennie Dee Nix.  Chris was raised by his grandparents, Jimmie and Dorothy Nix, who adopted him when he was just a baby.  Under their care, he learned, among other things, about hard work.  At the age of 14 he was out of school, on his own, working hard in the oil fields.  He was the type of man that took pride in speed and efficiency in his work; and who rarely asked for help.  If the job was dangerous, he was there, so as not to put his coworkers in harm's way; and when the time came, he even saved a few lives while on the rig.  Chris would show the world his toughness, but he hid a soft side under his rough exterior, which came out to his family.  His children were everything to him and he would give them the world when he could.  In his spare time, Chris enjoyed listening to music, fishing, skydiving, and carpentry work.

Chris is survived by his wife, Amy Nix; 2 sons, Nathan Nix and Ryan Nix; a daughter, Natalie Nix, all of McAlester; his sister, Deanna Woodard of Ft. Worth, Tx.; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and many cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Tedrick and Jennie Nix; his grandparents, and adoptive parents, Jimmie and Dorothy Nix; other grandparents, Hannah Brumley, Leo Douglas Tedrick, and Bertie Louise Tedrick.
