Charles Martin Gibbs, 86, of Kiowa, passed away Tuesday, July 11, in McAlester.  Viewing will be Monday with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester, with Lonnie Clunn and Kenny Morrow officiating.  Pallbearers are Wade Labor, Robert Karr, Lynn Mabry, Jack Shropshire, Remmell Spencer, and Lance Hess.  Honorary pallbearers are Curtis Golden, Gary Mabry, Michael Mabry, Robert Daniels,Gerald Goddard, and Chester Johnson.

Charles Gibbs was born on Feb. 2, 1937 in Pittsburg to Doyal Virgil Gibbs and Myrtle Sue (Richey) Gibbs.  He grew up in the Pittsburg/Kiowa area and has lived in Kiowa virtually all his life.  Charles worked at Lockheed until they closed, then worked for Boeing as a structural insulation mechanic until his retirement.  Charles was a huge fan of local sports.  He rarely missed a baseball or basketball game in or around Kiowa.

Charles is survived by a nephew, Neil Ray Richardson; and life-long friends, Joe Edwards, Joe Lynn Edwards and wife Staci and their children, Gabe and Jackson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, bobby Miller, Harold Miller, Edwin Gibbs, James Gibbs, and Joe Bill Gibbs, and sisters, Tranquil W. Richardson and Lucy Imogene Gibbs.
