Obituary

Berdenia Sue Waller, 83, of Crowder, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, in McAlester.  The family will welcome friends for visitation at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist church of Crowder with Pastor Terry Moore officiating.  Burial will take place on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Newport Cemetery north of Lone Grove, Ok. with Pastor Mike Johnston officiating.  Pallbearers are Brad Beane, Ron Gragg, Brad Dobbs, Darren Langley, Bruce Sharp and Ken Hatley.

Berdenia Waller was born on May 20, 1938 in Dewey, Ok. to John Doane and Mildred (Cox) Doane.  She grew up in Dewey and lived there, except for a year in California, until she moved to Lone Grove in 1972.  She lived there until 2017 when she moved to Crowder to be close to her two sons.  She worked as a telephone operator, worked at the Veteran's Home in Ardmore, and at the K-Mart store.  She and George Waller were married on May 20, 1955 in Dewey.  He preceded her in death in 2013 after being married 58 years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crowder and was active in the Crowder Senior Citizens.  She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, going to Branson, and shopping.  Berdenia is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Brenda Waller and Mike and Taryn Waller; grandchildren, Keelin Brown and Michael Waller; and a special niece, April Petersen, as well as several other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Tamara; 2 brothers, John and Robert Dale Doane; a sister, Janice Lutke; and nephews, Glen Lutke and Kenny Dobbs.
