Alta Pearl Long, 88, of McAlester, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 29, in McAlester.  Viewing will be Thursday until 8:00 p.m.  Graveside funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 1, at 2:00 p.m.at the Crowder Cemetery.

Alta Long was bon on Oct. 4, 1932 in Flowery Mounds, Ok. to Charles Franklin Rogers and Floy Hazel (Howard) Rogers.  She grew up there and married Eli Long on May 28, 1949.  Since Eli was a career military man they moved around a lot, living in several different countries and different places in the States, finally settling in McAlester.  She liked to sew for her family and had a large collection of nick-nacks and Avon collectibles.

Alta is survived by her children, Earnest Long, Charles Long and wife Connie, Roy Long, Kenneth Long, Jackie Long, and Mary Lott and husband Richard; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law, Margie Rogers, Ellis Long, Jenny Snyder, Lavonne Long, and Peggy Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 4 grandchildren, and 9 siblings.
